Well, I have been home safe and sound and (finally) dry for almost an hour now. I tried to update around 6:30 but that was around the worst of the storms near campus and I kept getting either kicked off the network or power spiked.

Our building has some major flooding. The building is only 3 years old and already the damage is in the thousands of dollars, thanks mostly to shoddy construction.

I swear some of the footage I have seen on the news since finally making it home, has been unlike anything I have ever seen here in Richmond, rushing water six and eight feet high and even higher at the peak of the flooding.

I pray for those in Shockoe Bottom and other areas like near the Falling Creek resevoir... they are in for a long night. As for me I have been up since 6am and at work since 7am. I am calling it a night and hitting the hay.

"I went down Virginia seekin' shelter from the storm,... the crowd had rushed together, trying to keep warm..."

I was at Shockoe Bottom this evening picking someone up who had just gone through the worst of the storm out there. :(
