Angelica... Longbottom?

Which HP Kid Are You?

Actually this is great (think I would have rather been Ron or one of the twins, but I love Neville and I think he is going to be integral to the final outcome of the series)

Am getting all sneezy and sniffly... time to go to bed!

As if this is any surprise...I just wish he looked meaner.

He so is (going to be integral). I had a long conversation with a customer about that the other day, actually; she theorized that Neville was going to kill Voldemort in attempting to protect Harry. I'm not sure what I think about that. On the one hand, there's no way the bit about there being two boys born at the end of July is coincidental; on the other, Harry is the hero of the series, and I just can't picture a six-book leadup of Harry's history and perspective only to have Neville save the day in the end. it doesn't make literary sense. What do you think?

I agree with your thinking. I cannot see Neville as the hero of the entire series; it is after all "Harry Potter and ...", not "Neville Longbottom and ...".

On the other hand the Longbottom allusion and the amount of screen time Neville gets (and yes, the birthday) cannot be coinccidence. I think that at some point Neville will either lead Harry to the answer or Harry will lead Neville to greatness and allow him to overcome his fears, and though Harry will be the hero what he will do will allow Neville at least a share (if not all) of the glory.

Your thoughts?

Re: Agreed!
There was a really interesting comment in one of those clue-seeking guides to Harry Potter that pointed out how horrendous Neville's memory is. Rowling takes such care to emphasize it, which seems like a bit of comic relief at first glance; but she also takes a lot of care to reinforce that that can also be the work of a memory charm (Lockhart, etc.) I don't know, I'm thinking maybe Voldemort marked Neville too, and he's been meant to be the hero all along. I don't doubt that Harry will wind up being that hero - he's also been marked - but yeah, I bet he's definitely going to share the glory with Neville.

Re: Agreed!
Yeah I think Neville's mark is much deeper... I also think we see a totally different side of him in OotP.

Two things I think were important: (Ignore if you haven't read book 5 yet!)

1. The gum wrappers his parents were giving him
2. The mimblus mimbletonia or whatever his plant was

Much to be found here I think, I just wish I was smart enough to figure it out... :(

That's cool...

I don't know why but since the third book (my favorite so far) Hermione has irked my nerves more and more. I love that she is smart, but I get tired of her controlling, her nitpicking, and her general haughtiness. I don't know why I have soured on her so... in the first books she was one of my favorite characters. :(

I still think some parts of her character are very cool though.
