BRUSSELS, Belgium (Reuters) -- A Belgian man suspected of murdering his wife 14 years ago has finally been arrested because of his passion for pigeons, police said Monday.
Marcel Pirson, who eluded the police after changing his name and moving house, was caught after his picture showed up in a magazine for pigeon fanciers.
Police questioned Pirson after his wife was found in December 1989 in the smashed up remains of a car.
Investigators at first believed the crash was an accident, but later suspected murder.
Pirson was interviewed once but disappeared before he could be questioned again, the police said in a statement, adding that he had now been charged with the murder.
